Another sci-fi year

When I was young years like 2013 was the stuff of science fiction. A lot could happen in 30+ years! Why, we could be sending Roy Schieder and John Lithgow to Jupiter by then. So it’s strange to be living in those years.

Yet here we are. We’ve got a brand new year ahead of us, 365 days of possibilities. What do I plan to do with them? I’m not telling. I didn’t tell you last year, and I won’t tell you this year. I didn’t accomplish more than half my goals for 2o12. But all in all, 2012 was a pretty good year, and I’m not all that eager to see it go.

I will admit, though, that I’m optimistic about 2013. It had a pretty good setup, so it’s got no excuses. I won’t have to wrestle it into submission first like some years. I don’t know that it’ll be the Best. Year. Ever., but it’s got a decent shot at being exceptional.

Meanwhile I hope your 2013 goes well, also. No matter how 2012 went, may 2013 be an improvement. Good luck, and we’ll see you on the other side! Once more into the breach!

One Response to Another sci-fi year

  1. Jeannine Robinett says:

I was just thinking about this and love that you brought it up. Sometimes when I read older books or watch older sci-fi movies and TV shows I’m sad that we haven’t accomplished some of what those writers thought we might. I’m also amazed at all the things we have done that I didn’t see as possibilities 30 years ago.
