To give you an idea of the type and quality of work I do, here are a few of my client sites for comparison.
Heart to Heart Gifts
Heart to Heart Gifts and Home Decor is a combination of brick-n-mortar and online sales. Our focus has been on building a fan base of customers who will be interested in seeing what is new in the store. For that we use a variety of platforms.
Facebook is the centerpiece, and is used for both communicating with the fan group and promoting our mailing list. Twitter is used more for promoting the online sales site. We use MailChimp to manage our mailing list and deliver a monthly newsletter. We are also working toward using more video.
Content creation is a combined effort. Each week I meet with the owner at her store to discuss topics for the coming week. She sets up interviews with any of the crafters who sell their goods in the store on consignment, supplies me with pictures, and drafts rough outlines of what she wants in certain announcements. Pictures are more ideal in this situation, so we try to include them regularly.
BT Game Vault
BT Game Vault buys games locally via trade-ins from customers and resells them online. They are still in the building stage in their business, so everything they do is on the cheap. Their social media efforts are similarly limited.
We use a WordPress blog as their primary website, focusing on information about the company and occasional industry news and opinion blog posts. Facebook is aimed more toward the local customers who sell them games, and Twitter is intended to broadcast more widely to prospective online buyers.
Content for this site is generated by me, but largely from set resources that they have shown me. Over-all, the intent is to begin building SEO and open lines of contact with customers. As the company grows we will add more social media platforms that meet their needs. For example, a mobile shop to facilitate more trade-ins is being considered. If they go this route, Foursquare would be an obvious choice for helping broadcast where the truck would be parked on any given day.
Simple Self Reliance
This client is still in the early stages of launching an information product marketing site. At this point he is largely working on establishing credibility in the field and getting noticed. Since he is not actively selling any product at present, he is utilizing my lowest level package. I helped him set up his Blogspot website/blog and his Facebook business page, and maintaining them while he creates and distributes content, builds links, and finds other sites to refer to himself.
The Ogre’s Den Cookie Company
This is my brother, who has a regular booth at a farmers market selling cookies, sells to local businesses, and bakes custom orders. He asked me one day how Social Media could help him, so I offered to create him a plan (For free, of course. He is my brother, after all ). He’s wading in and getting his feet wet with it by implementing the first few steps of the plan, and may someday expand his efforts further.
