Checking my priviledge

I hear a lot lately that I should check my privilege. So I did, and found this:

Now, perhaps the list is cherry-picked, but to hear most feminists go on, you’d think that men had all the advantages across the board. Perhaps that was true once, but if you seriously look at this list, it’s not looking as good for my boys as for my daughter. And if she wishes to marry, perhaps not even so good for her, either.

  1. I think we need to compete as humans, rather than as gender. Best man or woman gets the job, scholarship, opportunity.

  2. Not often speechless, either by choice or not. I am now.

  3. Unfair/ridiculous privilege happens to both genders, different ethnicities, etc-no denying that but overall, white males have usually have had less problems because of their gender/ethnicity though that’s slowly being readjusted-maybe too far to the other end of the spectrum sometimes.
I, for one, know many women who are horrible people/parents but, because of outdated/stupid ideas about gender/privilege, they are awarded custody when it should have been the men. We all have work to do to improve things for everyone and just get to the point where it’s the best person for the situation/job/etc.

The first woman to run the Boston Marathon was told that women “Women aren’t allowed, and furthermore are not physiologically able” and had to sneak into the race & run unregistered, a few years later another woman that ran the Boston Marathon was attacked by the race official because women weren’t allowed.
In both instances, many of male competitors were fine with the women competing and, several years after those two ladies ran, rules were finally changed so that women could compete.
