The larger of the two populated islands in the Sea of Casselome, ruled over by Principii Ardis Gelantis. The Neflani have been able to leverage their location into a lucrative role as primary factors between both Ornestra and Virstachreon and Tzerimytris. Their ships and crews are able to carry goods so well and so cheaply that both Virstachreon and Ornestra maintain a minimal merchant fleet.
Neflan also maintains good relations with Tremandi, as both peoples largely avoid direct competition. Where Tremandi specializes in specialty, luxury and hard to find goods, Neflan merchants specialize in large quantities of basic goods. They also took the risky step of centralizing their agriculture to focus on a few key commodities that none of their primary trade partners are able to produce, but all desire.
Principii Gelantis has continued the tradition established by his predecessors of walking a fine line between Virstachreon and the Ornestran Empire, trading freely and impartially with both, even though both have tried to pull Neflan into their orbit. Knowing to shift to either side would spell disaster for his people, he remains fiercely neutral–and keeps his crews and warships on constant lookout for false-flag operations meant to drag him into the rivalry.
