I have a love-hate relationship with Christmas music. I’m very particular which groups and which arrangements I listen to, as the rest get over-done, commercialized and/or played to death. But there are those magical few cases where they “get it right.”

I agree. There are so many singers now who HAVE to do their own version of a song and the results are…interesting with a rare gem or two that stand out.
Yes, “interesting”. Good word to leave it at. It’s like the National Anthem. Everyone feels like they have to “leave their mark” on it that it takes real courage for someone to just perform it straight.
